Roy Hiller Injury Exhibit

The Law Offices of Roy S. Hiller specializes in very serious personal injury cases. Personal injury is when one person is hurt by the negligence or wrongful action of someone else. The law of negligence or “tort” law states that people have the responsibility of behaving towards others in a reasonable way. The law allows a person to recover monetary awards for any injury or damage that was caused by the behavior of someone else. Examples of personal injury include construction accidents, products liability, automobile and truck accidents, premises liability, lead poisoning, nursing home negligence, elevator and escalator accidents, wrongful death, municipal liability, and medical malpractice.

Products Liability

Products liability law is designed to compensate individuals who are harmed by defective products. Due to the range of products in today's marketplace, it is inevitable that some products will cause harm because they were defectively manufactured or designed. Products can also be defective because they fail to provide adequate warnings concerning hazards associated with use of the products. We have worked on cases involving automobiles, machinery, cleaning fluids, contact cement, fork lifts, ramps and conveyor systems. The Law Offices of Roy S. Hiller works on your behalf to fight for your rights.

Products Liability Case Results:

  • $ 2.65 million dollar settlement reached after jury selection on behalf of a 67 year old man who was unloading a furniture truck using a ramp which collapsed.
  • $ 1.5 million dollar settlement for a 58 year old woman who lost 3 fingers while operating a plastic injection machine that lacked proper guards.

Premises Cases & Window Guard Cases

Owners of property have a legal responsibility to keep their buildings and surrounding premises in reasonably safe condition. If you slip and fall on someone’s property because they did not maintain it, you may be entitled to compensation. Premises liability would include slip and fall, and trip and fall. Premises liability can occur in different places, such as office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, parking structures, supermarkets, apartment buildings, and schools. It is the responsibility of grocery stores to clean up spills, for malls to provide adequate security and for commercial buildings to repair defective stairs and railings.

Window Guards must be installed in all apartments with children under the age of 10 years of age. Building owners who fail to have or install window guards are negligent and liable for a child falling out of a window.

If you are injured due to the negligence of a property owner or property manager you may be entitled to monetary compensation. If you are attacked because of negligent security you may be entitled to compensation.

Nursing Home Negligence

As people are living longer and our life expectancy rises, more elderly people will be living in nursing homes when they can no longer take care of themselves. Nursing home abuse and negligence is on the rise, partly because nursing home victims cannot speak for themselves. Nursing home abuse include failure to provide proper nutrition and hygiene, slapping, hitting and pushing of residents, not providing appropriate medical care and failure to take adequate safety precautions. Hundreds of elderly patients are affected and suffer bed sores and dehydration, and they could be too embarrassed or too incapacitated to tell anyone.

If you think that neglect or abuse is occurring in a nursing home consult a lawyer. Sometimes nursing home victims are unable to speak for themselves.
